Pencil Illustration | il Sognatore ~ the Dreamer

Known as “the Sicilian Robin Hood” Salvatore (Turiddu) Giuliano, robbed from the rich and gave to the poor while outwitting the police and political factions set against him, with the dream of creating a Sicily ultimately free and independent of the centuries-old chains of oppression she’d endured. He was betrayed and killed by the very people he sought to set free.

This assignment for PRIMO Magazine was personal for me as I still have family in Sicily and have always been fascinated by this almost-legendary folk hero. Because of my knowledge of Giuliano’s exploits I had the privilege of not only illustrating the article, but writing it as well!
